Update 04 Delays in Northern Germany

22. June 2026 | Operative Infos

Restriction of rail traffic

We want to inform you about the current situation and effects.

Important updates

  • From June 14, 2026 until the timetable change in December 2026/2027, the Passau railway line will undergo extensive general renovation; currently, trains have to be diverted via Salzburg, which is causing a disruption to train services.
  • This leads to delays on the route via Salzburg between Austria and Germany, as track capacity is limited and no special tracks are provided by ÖBB.
  • Additionally, today an overhead line failure near Hamburg-Harburg temporarily stopped train traffic to and from Hamburg; trains could not depart or were refused entry to Hamburg and had to be parked on the line.
  • Hamburg Terminal: Work at EKOM is proceeding as planned. The dismantling of a gantry crane at the Eurogate terminal requires shortening the track lengths by up to 500 meters. This makes handling extremely difficult, as lifting capacities are limited. The handling volume must therefore be divided into several time slots. Eurokombi has closed its truck interchange from June 18th to June 23rd, 2026, due to the dismantling of the gantry crane. Container deliveries and collections by truck are not possible during this period.
  • Hamburg approach control system is active.
  • Bremerhaven approach control system is activ.
  • As a consequence, significant delays, cancellations and train suspensions are to be expected.

Delivery times or fixed dates cannot be guaranteed; these require unhindered transport by rail or road traffic.
